I couldn’t take it any longer. I got tired of looking at my dull, lifeless hair in the mirror. It was looking thinner than usual and it had an odd limpness to it. I attribute this to lack of sleep, stress from my new move and not eating right, in addition to a past issue with hair loss due to an acne medication I was prescribed about two years ago. So I went in and got my hair cut while in the city one day. I figured now was the time to go more edgy and switch up my look. I’ve been told several times if I’m in fashion I need to look like I am. I agree and totally get it, I tell people to dress for the occasion, environment and outcome they want all the time.
So what kind of cut was I going to get? I’ve always looked good with a short bob, so I opted for that. It would flatter my face shape and make my thin hair look fuller. Little did I know I was about to channel my inner Halle Berry.
I struck gold when I got my hair done by hair stylist Derrick Kollock of Done Up. Derrick isn’t any hair stylist he has worked with; The Apollo Live,VH1’s Hip Hop Honers Awards, the MTV Awards, Loreal and celebs; The Judds, Joss Stone, Cynthia Nixon, Chrisette Michele, Flo Rida, Micheal K.Williams from the Wire and Boardwalk Empire. I told Derrick what I wanted and he took to what he did best, giving me that edgy look I was looking for. He kept it nice and short on one side and a bit longer on the other. PERFECTION!!! The best part is it looks amazing and even more edgy when I wear it curly. I have gotten so many compliments and wear it curly exclusively now. I highly suggest that if you are due for a change, look at getting a hair cut. Try something new! Also, a quick tip; short hair is great for making thin/limp hair look fuller.
So what do you think of my new hair cut?
